With a degree in Bachelor of Science in Accounting Technology, Mariel Ann Hug Otsu has over 7 years of work experience in different businesses and industries.
Her professional journey began as a customer service relations teller in a bank then transitioned to an accounting associate and secretary in a manufacturing sector. She also became a health claim analyst at one of the leading hospitals in the Philippines.
She also embarked on an adventure in Japan, working as a part-time horticulturist and assistant at Motoyama Nousan Inc.
Today, Mariel’s aspirations revolve around achieving job stability and creating a small business for her family.
One of the best pieces of advice she received was from his Japanese boss, “I no naka no kawazu taikai wo shirazu” or “A frog in a well knows nothing of the sea.” This always reminds her to maintain humility and have open perspective.
She also believes strongly in karma that positive and negative deeds have corresponding outcomes, “Karma is like a bank account. Every good deed is a deposit and every bad deed is a withdrawal.”
Beyond work, her hobbies include cooking, arts and crafts, indulging in real-life documentaries, and immersing herself in Japanese podcasts and movies to enhance her language skills.
